Here is all the weathervane general information that you need when it’s time to choose your weathervane.. Opt for a beautiful, British made piece of hand crafted ironwork. I make my weathervanes in the North Yorkshire seaside resort of Whitby. I welcome visitors to my workshop at Unit 2, Selly Hill Garage, Guisborough Rd, Whitby, YO21 1SE

PRICING

My weathervanes start off at £200 and on average go up to around £250 depending on the motif. Some more complicated designs can be quoted for.

The prices quoted are for a medium weathervane which measures 21″ over the cardinal points. This is the standard size for most single storey buildings. I can make a large version which is 27″ over the cardinal points. A large vane is an extra £60 on the quoted price.

All prices are fully inclusive. You will receive everything you need ready for fixing your weathervane. This includes the motif, cardinal points, a choice of post mounted or standard gable end mounting bracket, and all screws and plugs. My weathervanes are fully welded not flat packed and they come fully greased. Therefore no assembly or preparation is necessary, as the vanes are ready to put up. I also include easy fitting instructions.

QUALITY

I hand craft all my weathervanes including the motifs, which are hand cut and individually finished. Therefore, each vane is unique meaning no two weathervanes will be entirely identical.

All the weathervanes are perfectly balanced on knife edges. They operate on a captive, free rotating ball bearing which ensures they rotate accurately in the slightest breeze.

Each weathervane is hand painted with one coat of a high quality undercoat, and then finished in two coats of black gloss topcoat. This paint is a very hardwearing and high quality paint, also produced by a company in North Yorkshire. This paint finish gives my vanes a long lasting and weatherproof finish.

AVAILABILITY

Every weathervane I make is hand cut to order, and unique. Due to the nature of the work, from design (if a bespoke or personalised vane) to posting, I ask that you allow approximately 3-4 weeks from confirmation of order. If you are buying for a special occasion and need it by a specific date, we will always do our best to meet this, and sometimes it might be possible to make the vane in less than this time scale. However 3-4 weeks is the standard time to allow.  A lot of my work is bespoke to my customers requirements. There is no extra charge for bespoke work, therefore if you have your own ideas or a particular picture or photograph, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
